I lived in England for many years (and loved it), so this ad immediately appealed to me. Unfortunately it long ago got separated from the magazine in which I found it, so I do not know the year. They made them from 1969 to 1976, though, so I am assuming this is probably early ’70s. The TR6 was fairly popular (One British writer called it “the last of the hairy-chested mass-produced sports cars”), and British Leyland produced over 94,000 of them before the model was replaced by the TR7. Alas, the latter car would, as one commentator at auto.howstuffworks.com points out, “generate nowhere near as much affection — or sales — as the TR6. It was one of many mistakes that would ultimately cost British Leyland its life.”
